Pilot testing of WP3 in Italy
As part of the Erasmus+ project STEM Sports Education, ASD Sport Compass successfully implemented the local pilot activities of the “Fit for the Future” module in Alghero, involving 35 students aged 12–15 and their local teachers.
The activities combined sport, STEM education, and environmental awareness through hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences focused on swimming, chemistry, technology, and orienteering. Students explored topics such as water quality, pH, chlorine, and temperature, worked with mapping tools and GPS technologies, and examined sustainable outdoor practices, all while collaborating in teams through practical experiments and navigation challenges. Pre- and post-session surveys were also conducted to assess students’ engagement, STEM positioning, and skills development.
The pilot activities demonstrated how sport can become an effective and inclusive tool for promoting STEM learning, sustainability, teamwork, and active participation among young people.
